VR Operational Efficiency & Productivity

Operational Efficiency

Businesses today operate at a relentless pace. There's no time for mistakes or downtime, making company training more important than ever. Immersive Learning allows employees to practice on demand, feel safe while practicing and receive immediate feedback. Ultimately, this increases preparedness, ensures expertise and builds confidence.

New hire Onboarding

Reducing time spent training can help improve operational efficiency at scale. Every new hire needs to get up-to-speed as quickly as possible so they can contribute to and improve productivity. VR training gives employees hands-on learning and realistic decision-making practice, which is incredibly valuable for reducing time to proficiency with frontline skills and knowledge. In the headset, learners can interact with customers, practice store and warehouse procedures, and learn to do their jobs more effectively. This method of company training ensures that every employee is ready to hit the ground running and perform their best.

Frontline processes

Frontline employees should know their roles like the back of their hand. When they’re prepared, they succeed and help contribute to happy customers and workplace efficiency. Virtual Reality training enables frontline workers to practice skills, procedures, and processes in realistic environments as many times as they want until they are fully proficient. Results have shown that, when combined with traditional learning methods like classroom and shoulder-to-shoulder training, companies can reduce time to proficiency by up to 50% with VR-based Immersive Learning.

Distribution center operations

Loading/unloading and picking/packing are key areas of savings for logistics companies, and they rely on distribution center workers to help them recognize these savings. With VR training, employees can learn and practice everything from proper lifting techniques, to situational and spatial awareness, to choosing the right box size how to pack it most efficiently. The goal is to improve operational efficiency and speed to productivity – a key metric given the seasonality of the workforce.

Customer story

Increasing efficiency at scale with VR

When Walmart rolls out new machinery and equipment in their thousands of stores around the country, associates must master new operations and routines. At the same time, greeting customers and conducting regular workplace efficiency are always important. VR allows associates to be trained before the equipment is even installed, making virtual use of the best teachers. This removes interruptions to the regular business flow, and trims the time needed for training from eight hours to 15 minutes.

Challenge

To operate the new pickup towers, associates need to learn how to scan, sort and manage a steady stream of products in the middle of the store, while always greeting and managing customers.

Learning Objective

With Immersive Learning, there is no need for employees to wait for trainer to be on-site. It helps store associates become proficient even before the installation of equipment and enables 100% consistency of training.

Immersive Learning allows us to recreate those situations that we can’t or don’t want to recreate at the store with customers present. Associates go through training in a real, life-like environment so they can learn from it and feel the experience of it.
