Loading techniques
Truck loading is a key area of savings for logistics companies, and they rely on package handlers to help them recognize these savings. With VR training, package handlers learn and experience proper lifting techniques, situational awareness, and how to load a truck to maximize space. VR training helps to reduce turnover, improve safety, and cut costs.
Safe behaviors
An important aspect of safety training is the ability to recognize when others practice unsafe behaviors and how to effectively address the situation. Immersive Learning enables the tracking of learners’ head movements while training, which often indicates that learners are looking in the wrong place during training. Therefore, they don’t identify the unsafe lifting techniques their colleagues are exhibiting. In addition, VR helps employees learn the correct next steps to take, such as notifying a supervisor or engaging the coworker in a discussion. This helps employees learn the right behaviors as well as apply them in their roles.

Packing
Packing is an area where many companies identify opportunities for efficiency. Warehouse workers use VR training to practice the proper packing of items into a box, including everything from choosing the right box size to labeling. Within the VR training experiences, workers are exposed to the most efficient ways to pack, building skills in situational and spatial awareness. The goal is to improve speed to productivity – a key metric given the seasonality of the workforce.
Team coaching / giving feedback
Good managers often demonstrate a combination of strong communication skills, adaptability, resilience, coaching, and empathy. Yet, many managers often lack experience in one or more of these areas. Practicing these skills with simulated coaching sessions in Virtual Reality can add huge value. At the end of the simulation, learners watch and listen to themselves for self-evaluation, an important tactic for long-term retention of the material and to better assess their impact on other team members.
